You cant really compare between 2 currencies which cannot be even used to buy the same things now can you? The only way would be to use a crossover to a real-world-currrency, as someone already pointed out (GW : USD vs Runescape : USD). However that doesnt really help you, as it might just be that there are more gold sellers for Runescape (which I honestly believe). Take a look at diablo for example, highrunes, which are extremely rare for the normal player cost less than the equivalent of ~20k in gw would (again, dollar wise).

The only way to evaluate a currency, both virtual or real, is to do a comparison on the commodities/services you can acquire with the said currency in comparison to another one.. Can you buy a Fissure armor or get a run in xxx dungeon with runescape gold?

So no, you didnt get what I was saying I believe.

I had my friends ask the same question to me; What = 1mil RSGold in Guild Wars. I'll say it to you like I said it to them.

You can't really tell. I can make 1mil easy in Runescape but 100k is a bit harder to come by for me in Guild Wars (I'm defiantly not the richest guy out there).

Depends on your skill level, it used to be hard for me to get 1mil in RS but I get it easy now. Just like 100k is harder for me to get now, but I'll get 100ks easy in Guild Wars someday :P.

So I'd say 1mil RS = 90k-120k Guild Wars? Hard to be exact.

Anyway, back on topic, I think it DOES matter on how you play and what you spend it on. I suppose you could compare with the real money thing but what about in-game items. Take a decent...say sword in GW and compare it with the same thing in Rune. Not taking into effect skins or rarity...just a good sword that works good with the right mods. If it takes (example only) 20k Rune gold verses maybe 10k GW gold then you might be able to compare them. Again, those were only examples as I haven't played Rune.

To be a little more philosophical on the matter, I'd say it depends on how much you want. I don't have a lot of money, but compared to what I've wanted and needed while playing Guild Wars, I'm the equivalent of an Egyptian king! For me, a full storage is usually more than I've ever wanted or needed at any given point in time. At times when I've had much more than that, I simply just give it away because it's too much for one person to enjoy, if there is nothing tangible they want.

To be perfectly honest, you can do as the person in Icyfiftyfive's link does - follow the book to the letter, play 24 hours a day and do everything that everyone does.
But that would make you a dime a dozen. Do you want to be a dime a dozen? I for my part enjoy the gameplay value of the game.. as long as you know what your goals are, you will be rich when you have any armor that have max armor (70), any runes you want - insignias... max damage weapon.. and a lot of skills ^_^

their "solid answers" are nothing more than educated guesses. you can try to compare each to a real life currency and get a ratio that way, but that doesn't tell you anything about how much they are worth in game. this is because you cannot buy your way to an ingame advantage, so from that angle, GW gold can be considered worthless.

1mill rs=100k guildwars

as far as being rich and what not i go by this:

1g-1000k-casual well off player
250e-1000e-highly competitive player
5000e = rich
8000e+= Rich player who likes cash and the "nice stuff" guild wars offers

Actually you just came out of left field like he beat you up.

While you can make conversions, it won't be as accurate still since the things you spend money on in between the two games is different.

You could just play the game and see how much you make over time ya know.

I really is a matter of view, but..

I consider anyone with 100K relatively comfortable; they can go out and buy pretty much anything except for about 10% of the really expensive items in GW.

500k I consider well off. With the exception of a few high end mini's you can go out and buy pretty much anything in the game at a moments notice.

1000K (1 million gold) I consider rich. You can get everything your heart desires minus a Mini Panda and a few similar items.

Anything over 1000K I consider A Lot Of Money

I used to think 1mil in GW was a lot. After 4 years of GW's existence 1mil is pretty common minus newer players. You see money like this thrown around all the time in game and here on guru. That's not to say everyone is rich but compared to say 2-3 years ago having 1mil kicking around isn't all that uncommon. There was once a post somewhere (can't remember where) that mentioned the average GW player had 20k. This was 2-3 years ago. Since then we've had....

Monthly Zkeys
M.O.X.
Speed farming
Dungeon running/services
Free keyless chests in Nightfall
Handbooks
Weekend events
Vanquishing

*These are just some of the many new ways we've never had before to help us make money. The average GW player is richer now then they were before. Keep in mind this is WITH loot scaling in place.

I consider 5-10mil to be well off in GW nowadays. Anymore then that and you can basically do whatever the hell you want whenever you want.

Casual - 0-20k
Average - 10-100k
Addicted - 10k-x millions
No life - see the above ele posted

I've known players who've played since beta but never had more then 10k, and others who in today's money would have been worth xxx millions. I say today's money due to the fact gold is so much easier to come by then it was back in the day. Back then having a stack of ecto was rich, these days stacks are thrown around like pennies.

For someone, 100k is rich, for others 20.000 Ectos.

For me, it is something in between.

Either Teal had access to celestial compasses before everyone else, or that picture with white, black dyes, 2 elemental swords etc is fake. Raptor farming existed well before March 2008. Most likely all the items were dropped by the player.

I used to play Runescape. I bailed the moment I bought a new computer that could play more worthwhile games. I know that's a not-so-subtle dig at RS, which in retrospect is a horrible horrible game.

I can honestly tell you that you're not going to need anywhere near the money in GW that you need in RS. My Ahrims barrows armor in RS cost me 1.8 mil. You can get the highest level armor in GW for 1K each piece plus the crafting materials. If you want elite armor then you're looking at more, 15k each piece, but you don't need it.

Also, what you'll find is weapon drops are actually helpful and relevant so you really don't need to be constantly buying weapons. And if you die, you get a Death Penalty and you won't be losing all your valuable armor and weapons like you do in RS. By the time you get decent weapon drops in RS your character level is way past that weapon. And since you get character slots in GW you can share stuff between characters since they use the same bank space. You might find a great bow while playing your warrior and you can just place it in the bank for your ranger.

I'm not rich by any means, I have nearly 100k in my bank and since I'm not into mini pets or expensive vanity items, I really don't have anything to spend it on. I don't have to buy expensive runes for my Mage or arrows for my ranger, or supplies to level up some stupid skill so I can qualify for a quest. At some point I might get obsidian armor for my ranger, but I'm in no hurry.

Welcome to GW. You'll quickly forget about RS and its bad graphics and mind numbing skill grinding.

I know this doesn't completely answer your question, but I guess it does in a way. Sorta. A one to one comparison is difficult so you can only really go by items. Good armor in RS = millions. Good armor in GW= 5k + materials. Good weapon in GW= free if you're patient and use keys and lockpicks that drop. Good weapon in RS (dragon right)? = 250-500k

well GW money is worth a lot more than runescape money in terms of buying it with real world money. either way rich is a relative term, as one already said, i have about 500-700k in money and assets but thats a fraction of the money some players have who have played the game for a while or got lucky.

A lot of money is always having enough to buy your next trinket.
